Orchestra Methods and Warm Ups
Apex Music Company is pleased to present the Orchestra Methods and Warm-up Exercise Series. During my time at Durham School of the Arts, and after my “retirement” with Kidznotes, an El Sistema program, I have written method materials for various levels. There are presently five books in this collection.

Supplemental Materials for the Beginning String Class is a valuable resource to reinforce whatever method book teachers use. Teaching Rhythmic Independence employs rhythm patterns with progressive melodies to help students develop rhythmically. The Scale Duets books are a great way for your students to fall in love with playing scales. Even at the earliest stage of learning, your students will gain a great sense of musical accomplishment with these duets. The two volumes of Improving Ensemble Intonation use homophonic textures of chorales, hymn tunes, and carols to help students learn and hear how their part fits into the chord structure. Each tune has two harmonizations, the original and an altered one. Then students are asked to play them in several keys. This will help with understanding how finger patterns play a role in intonation. The Improving Ensemble Intonation series is also available for a full orchestra.
The music teachers using these books agree that they are wonderful resources. Classroom teachers are acutely aware of how they must balance teaching materials and literature in their spending. This is why Apex Music Company offers a wonderful discount program so classroom teachers can afford to use these digital at a significant reduction of cost. This program will allow teachers to have access to all of the material for only a fraction of the cost of purchasing hard copies.
Even in these challenging times, with tough budget decisions, the usefulness of this collection and its cost have to be very attractive. For pricing information and to start receiving benefits from these method books please fill out the application form.
"I had the opportunity to review the method books and was quite pleased with the sequential progression of the studies. I have taught instrumental music for many years, finally string instrumental method books that makes sense."
